Therapy Session, NYC

Creative concept · Spatial capture · Gaussian-splat reconstruction · Immersive presentation

Therapy Session, NYC explores a modern-day portrait of an artist (Austin Babbitt) situated within the artwork and environment he created.

The project combined two complementary workflows. The gallery environment was caotured using an XGRIDS PortalCam. Separately, working with imagery from Volume.Cloud’s 96-camera volumetric capture setup, the images of Austin were processed in PostShot, creating a Gaussian-splat PLY of the artist.

I then published the resulting assets into two immersive platforms: SuperSplat where Austin can be experienced by clicking within the gallery environment, and Arrival.Space, where the user can explore in a more compelling immersive interpretation of the work, as an avatar.

The project brings together artistic intent, spatial capture, image processing, and emerging immersive technologies to explore how an artist can be experienced within his own creative world.
